I’m incredibly honoured to have been commissioned by the City of Barrie (the city where I grew up) to create a animal-inspired artwork titled Furry Friends. As an artist whose work is deeply rooted in my love for animals, this project held special meaning for me from the very beginning. Creating something meaningful for the city that shaped me both personally and creatively was truly a full-circle moment.
The vision behind Furry Friends was to create a vibrant, welcoming piece that celebrates the joy, companionship, and connection animals bring into our daily lives and into our community.
In developing this artwork, I leaned into my signature bright yet realistic style, carefully crafting each element to feel lively, warm, and full of personality. The City of Barrie wanted us to use the prompt "Colours of the Community" so every colour I chose was chosen with intention to ensure the piece feels both eye-catching and emotionally engaging for everyone who encounters it.
Being trusted by Barrie to contribute public artwork as part of their Traffic Cabinet project is a milestone I’m deeply proud of.
Furry Friends reflects the same care, passion, and attention to detail that I bring to every custom pet portrait I create. It stands as a celebration of my roots, my love for animals, and my commitment to creating meaningful art that connects with people and brings a sense of joy to the spaces it lives in.
