who is sam?

I am a digital artist working with animals at the heart of everything I create. My work is inspired by everyday life and the emotional connections we share with the animals around us. They are more than subjects to me, they are reflections of comfort, vulnerability, and unconditional love.

Much of my inspiration comes from my dog, Skylar, who represents grounding, loyalty, love and presence. Through my art, I explore how animals hold space for us emotionally, often in ways humans cannot, and I aim to capture that warmth and honesty in every piece.

Repetition and variation play an important role in my process, mirroring how emotions and memories evolve over time. By isolating quiet moments or subtle gestures, I highlight the tenderness and fragility shared between animals and ourselves.

Now you probably want to know who Skylar is...

Skylar is my five-year-old German Shepherd and the heart behind my work. I got her when I was 20, during a time when I was still figuring out who I was and what I wanted to do with my life. She grew alongside me through uncertainty, change, and creative growth.

Sky has been a constant source of inspiration, her presence, loyalty, and quiet understanding shape the way I see the world and the way I create. Many of my pieces are influenced by her spirit, whether directly or in the emotions they carry. In many ways, my art wouldn’t exist as it does today without her.

She is more than my dog; she is my grounding, my muse, and a reminder of why I create.
